Ashton Cobb - What Reading Does to You

Ashton Cobb grew up in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and received a full football scholarship to attend the University of Kentucky. His father was a preacher and encouraged him to read as often as he could, and this helped him score excellent grades in college. Here are some benefits of reading.

Ashton Cobb

Helps You Relax
Reading a book or a magazine is a great way to overcome stress and relax, according to a study conducted by the University of Sussex. The study showed that reading was more effective in reducing stress than listening to music, drinking a cup of coffee or tea, or taking a walk. According to a report, it took just six minutes for participants to relax once they started reading. It does not matter what book you read, as long as you get engrossed in what you are reading.

Stay Sharp
According to research published in the journal Neurology, reading can help keep your brain sharp when you become old. A study conducted with 294 participants who died at an average age of 84 showed that those who spent time reading earlier in life showed slower memory decline than those who did not read. Robert S. Wilson of the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago said, “Our study suggests that exercising your brain by taking part in activities such as these across a person's lifetime, from childhood through old age, is important for brain health in old age.”

Ashton Cobb attended the University of Kentucky on a football scholarship and attributes his good grades to his desire to read the course material including other reading material.

Ashton Cobb - Cooking Techniques You Need to Know

Ashton Cobb learned to cook watching his parents cook for his ten brothers and sisters. His parents were both good cooks and ensured that the eleven children always had delicious home-cooked meals. Here are some cooking techniques you can use at home.

Ashton Cobb Slow Roast

Slow roasting meat and vegetables in the oven is a great way to enjoy a delicious meal. But to ensure your meat and vegetables stay moist and juicy, you will need to cook it slowly, increasing the heat will make the food dry. Slow roast requires time, make sure you don’t rush the cooking process or you will end up ruining the dish.

Poaching

Poaching is different from boiling and they are not the same. Poaching is an art that requires practice and skill. Poaching is cooking fish or chicken breast fillets in a pan with just a few bubbles around the pan. The broth slowly flavors the fish or meat as it cooks. Remember to add sufficient seasoning such as fresh herbs, spices, and chopped green onions to the dish.

Sear

There are a few things more delicious that a perfectly seared piece of meat or fish. To get a perfect sear, remove the meat from the refrigerator, at least, 30-minutes before you start cooking, and let it come to room temperature. Use a paper towel to pat dry the meat making sure there is no moisture on the meat. Preheat a pan and add oil or butter when the pan is hot and place the meat on the pan. Let it cook until it comes off easily from the pan. If it sticks to the pan, wait a minute and then flip it on the other side and cook it. When it has a crisp, golden brown texture, you know it’s a perfectly bit of seared meat.

Ashton Cobb enjoys cooking and inviting his friends over for dinner.

Ashton Cobb - Common Hiking Mistakes You Want to Avoid

Ashton Cobb is a talented football player who has played starting strong safety for the Wildcats and the Boston Bashers. Apart from playing football, he likes to go hiking. He started hiking when he was in college and has made it one of his favorite things to do when he is not playing football. Ashton Cobb grew up in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania but moved to Lexington, Kentucky after he received a football scholarship to study at the University of Kentucky. If you are planning a hiking trip with your friends or family, here are some you want to avoid.

Ashton Cobb

Avoid these Common Mistakes

When you are going hiking, the first thing you need to know is how to avoid making the most common mistakes other make when they go hiking.
  • Choose the right trail. There are several different trails, all ranked on a scale of one to five, with five being the most difficult. If you have never gone hiking before, you obviously don’t want to choose a trail ranked number five. That would make your hiking trip a disaster even before it started. Most hiking trails rated number five are rock climbing trails, definitely not for beginners.
  • Over-packing and under-packing are both not recommended. If you are going out on a short afternoon hike, you want to make sure that you are not carrying 25 pounds of hiking equipment, and on the other hand, you don’t want to go empty handed as well. You will need to carry the essentials such as sunglasses, sunscreen, drinking fluids (water and energy drinks). Each person on your hiking team will need to have at least three to four liters of water for themselves. You might want to carry sufficient energy-packed snacks and have them along the way instead of eating a large lunch at the summit.
  • A good idea would be to carry a first aid kit with athletic tape, Band-Aid, antibiotic ointment and some bandage to clean wounds if necessary. Don’t make the mistake of not carrying a first aid kit.
  • It is recommended to carry a rain jacket when you go on a hike. Regardless of what the weather forecast might be for that day or afternoon, it is always good to carry a rain jacket as thunderstorms are common in mountainous areas.
  • If you are going to be out late in the evening, you will need to carry a flashlight or headlamp. In fact, every hiker in your group should pack their own flashlight when they go hiking.
  • Sometimes during a hike, you might come across rough terrain, and it is good to carry a hiking pole when you go hiking. Don’t think that you would look silly walking around with a hiking pole. It’s surprising how much weight a hiking pole can take off your ankles, knees, and hips especially when you are going downhill.
Ashton Cobb has been on several hiking trips with his college buddies.

Ashton Cobb - Five Important Football Training Drills

Ashton Cobb is a football player who has been playing football since he was in high school. He is the sixth child in a family of eleven children. His father was a deeply religious man who encouraged him to pursue his dreams and do the best he can. Ashton Cobb received a football scholarship to attend the University of Kentucky and played starting strong safety for the Wildcats. He is a highly committed team player and his team members value his presence on the field.

It is important for every football player to get into great shape because playing the sport demands that the players are in excellent physical shape. Stamina, Speed, agility, and strength are some of the qualities every footballer should have, and football training drills are meant to get players in shape for the game. Here are some important football training drills every player should follow.

Tire Run

Tire runs require players to sprint through tires placed in a zig-zag position on the field. This helps them develop endurance, strength, agility, and speed. Players will need to make sure they lift their knees up high enough after stepping out of each tire so that they don’t trip and fall. The player will have to repeat the process over and over again to build endurance.

Shuttle Runs

Shuttle runs are great for building the player's lower body muscles and helps in building his endurance and speed. The player will have to sprint ten yards and sprint back, then sprint 20 yards and back, increasing it by ten yards each time. Players will have to touch the yard line with both hands before sprinting back to the starting point.

Vertical Power Jumps

Vertical power jumps are ideal for building the leg muscles. Players will need to jump as high as they can repeatedly. They will need to stand upright, bend their knees and hips and propel themselves vertically into the air with all their force. They will need to repeat the jump ten to twenty times for a proper leg workout.

Box Jumps

Place a large stable box about two or three feet high in front of a player and have the player stand at the edge of the box (approximately eight inches away) and jump onto the edge of the box, stand upright and then jump back down. This fitness drill will help build muscle and strength, and is similar to the vertical power jump; however, with a small variation.

Ladder Drill

Draw a ladder pattern on the field with chalk powder and have your player stand at the bottom of the ladder. The player should step into the first square of the ladder with the left foot, and then with the right foot. Step on the outside of the second square with the left foot, and then with the right foot on the right side. Repeat this pattern for the entire length of the ladder, and then have them run back to the starting point. Have the players do this drill as quickly as possible to build up their coordination, speed, agility, and leg muscles.

Ashton Cobb likes to work on enhancing his football playing so that he can become a better player.

Ashton Cobb - Is it Important to be Versatile in Football?

Versatile players may attract more attention from professional teams. Ashton Cobb is a versatile football player. He played strong safety for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, and for the Boston Brawlers. He can take on any defensive position and is able to play free safety and linebacker as well. Versatility is important in football because it helps a player fill in for several roles, and helps a player understand the difficulties that his teammates may face.

Ashton Cobb
Ashton Cobb

A player who is versatile, is generally a player who can take on any position in either defensive plays or offensive plays. Football is a full contact sport and players are often injured. These skilled multi-position players are valuable because if one of their teammates is injured, they are able to fill in for that player. Coaches and managers are, in some cases, more attracted to players who can fill several different roles.

Versatility is also important because these players have a better understanding of the challenges their teammates face. Every football player has a full understanding of the game and the purpose of each position. However, if a team member only ever plays as a linebacker, then that team member may not fully understand the thought process of a cornerback and the challenges that player faces.
Players who can take on multiple roles are also in great physical shape. Ashton Cobb can play in several different positions and trains his body according to the requirements of each of those positions. He is a National Football League free agent and a talented player.

Ashton Cobb - Set an Example for the Children Around You

Children look to the adults around them for mentorship. Ashton Cobb is active in his church and wants to set an example for the children around them. He believes that mentoring and guiding children is the most important thing any adult could do. He has a daughter himself, and hopes to set a stellar example for her, and to show her that she can reach any dream as long as she works hard.

Ashton Cobb
Ashton Cobb

A great way to set an example for the children around you is to take the time to interact with them. If you want children to look up to you, then learn about those children and take an interest in their lives. Whether they are related to you, or members of your church, if you know a child, show them that you care about their interests and issues. This will help them trust you, and begin to look at you as a mentor.

Another great way to help the children around you is to volunteer for youth camps. If you are a great basketball player, volunteer for the local youth leagues. If you were a girl scout, or a boy scout as a child, volunteer with these programs. If you are a fantastic football player, then volunteer to coach and help out during the summer football camps. This is a great way to mentor the youth and to set an example for them to live by.

Ashton Cobb volunteers for local youth football camps. He strives to be someone that the children at his church can look up to, and dreams of opening his own youth football camps.

Ashton Cobb - Staying Motivated

Ashton Cobb understands that it can be difficult to stay motivated at times, particularly during periods of life that are less than fortuitous. He has come to understands what you need to do in order to keep yourself in the right mindset to achieve everything that you want in life.

Ashton Cobb
Ashton Cobb
Set Goals
Without goals you have nothing to shoot towards, which means everything that you do is aimless. When you understand exactly what you are striving to achieve, you can start setting milestones that indicate you are one step closer to your goal when you pass them. Always have something new to strive for and never settle with what you have.

Have Fun
If what you are doing becomes monotonous, you are going to find that your motivation wanes extremely quickly. Be sure to mix things up and keep what you are doing interesting. This way you can have fun while striving towards your goal, instead of feeling like it is a task just to start doing the things that you know you need to do.

Your Support System
It is crucial that you surround yourself with people who understand the goals you have set and will do everything that they can to help you along the way. When all else fails, these are the people who will give you that extra push you need to get where you want to be.

Ashton Cobb understands that retaining your motivation levels can be a struggle and is grateful to both his family and teammates for always pushing him to work towards the next goal, whatever that may be.

Ashton Cobb: Patience Is a Virtue

While training to achieve his goal of playing in the NFL, Ashton Cobb has demonstrated enormous patience and now realizes why it is so important to take your time in order to achieve your dreams.

Ashton Cobb
Ashton Cobb

Acting on Impulse

Having patience allows you to step back from situations and understand how they can benefit you and what negatives they could bring to your life. The aim is to see how a decision you make will impact every aspect of your life and whether it is going to help you to achieve your end goal.

Don’t Sit Back

While patience is vitally important, it is also crucial that you do not simply sit back and wait for opportunities to present themselves. Instead, work hard at what you need to do in order for those chances to arise and ensure that you are prepared to take advantage of them when the time comes.

Self-Control

Having self-control is essential in a team environment, as it allows you to react logically rather than emotionally. This can be vital in heated situations, as you can take your time to come to a resolution, rather than doing something rash that damages the dynamic of the team.

Getting What You Want

We all have things in life that we want, but many people struggle with the concept of waiting to get it. Do not allow yourself to be disheartened if you don’t achieve what you set out to achieve in record time. Simply keep working towards your goal and eventually you will get there.

Ashton Cobb is training diligently in order to hone his skills, while exercising his patience in waiting for an opportunity to prove himself at the highest level.

Furthermore, the collective also aims to help young people by using sports as a platform to answer questions of faith and inform then about the importance of Christ.

This focus is highlighted by the fact that Athletes in Action is a sponsor of the annual Super Bowl Breakfast, which features a presentation of a special award for the player who has best demonstrated these qualities on the field.

Ashton Cobb is a big believer in developing these core skills in order to be a successful team player on the football field. His affiliation with the group was borne from his strong Christian heritage and has continued both due to its dedication to spreading a message of faith and the help that it can provide to aspiring athletes who want to succeed at everything they do in life.

Ashton Cobb - How to Start a Successful Restaurant

Owning a restaurant takes luck, hard work, and a willingness to take risks. Most restaurants fail, and the ones that stay around don’t make a profit before three years. It takes significant planning and investment to get started, and once you’ve started, you will have to pour in more investment and work to keep it afloat. The first step in starting your own restaurant is to devise a plan. Your plan should consist of a food concept or general idea of how you will present your food and what you menu should be. Next, analyze the costs of starting and operating your business. How much will you need to invest to get started, and when can you expect to see a profit? After you have a basic cost analysis and a location, you can craft a business plan, which organizes all of your balance sheets and statistical analysis into one coherent layout.

Ashton Cobb

Once you have a plan, you have the key to your whole operation. Next, you can start sorting out all the legal aspects of your business—complicated issues like zoning laws and business licenses. Only after you have a plan and all of the legal aspects of owning your own business can you seek funding for your project. Investors want to see planning and commitment.

Ashton Cobb, an NFL free agent, is training for the opportunity to join a professional team. In addition he plans on becoming restaurant owner living in Lexington, Kentucky when he is finished with professional football.

Ashton Cobb - Training as a Defensive Back

Ashton Cobb is a skilled and experienced strong safety who has played in the Division 1 College arena as well in the FXFL. He understands that in order to be an effective defensive back, you not only need to be a fast runner and skilled tackler but also an insightful player who can read into plays and get one step ahead of the offense. Below are some of the essentials elements that are implemented in training for defensive backs.

Ashton Cobb
Ashton Cobb

Pressure
Good defensive backs know how to keep pressure on their opponent during passing plays and ultimately disrupt and control the route that the opponent has to run in order to catch the ball. On running plays, good backs understand that they are their team’s last line of defense and that they must be careful in not letting anyone get past them.

Coverage
When playing in a defensive back position, coverage of the backfield is always a very crucial aspect to maintain. Having solid coverage means the offense is given very little opportunity to move the ball in the backfield, forcing them to make shorter plays. This ultimately increases the number of downs, which can help create 4th downs or even more windows for error for the ball to be turned over in interceptions to fumbles.
